Travel Obsessions: Vacationing In Dominican Republican

Two weeks ago, I had the time of my life in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Everything was simply amazing from the moment I got off the plane. The weather was perfect and everyone was very welcoming.

For our stay, we stayed at Excellence El Carmen. We were welcomed with champagne and a bottle of water as our bags were taken to our room. The resort featured at least 14 different restaurants from Lobster, French, Asian, Grilled, Italian, and more. I loved the options that were provided just in case I wasn’t I didn’t like what was served.

Along with the variety of restaurants, there were 16 bars around the resort. But the most important feature was that the resort was all-inclusive and NO CHILDREN. Now, I have nothing against children considering I have two of my own but that defeats the purpose of a romantic getaway. The resort is for my 18 and up crew.

My husband and I haven’t been on a real vacation, so you can only imagine how necessary this was. We didn’t want to just lay on the beach, eat, and drink but we wanted to enjoy paradise.

While on our vacation, I had the opportunity to go scuba diving, snorkeling, and drive the speed boats. For so long I have always stated what I wouldn’t do, which is a major setback on enjoying life. I put my fears aside and went scuba diving and it was EVERYTHING! Just being able to see another life in the ocean felt exhilarating.

Zip lining was also on my list of things-to-do. Talk about nervous. The excursion had about 12 different courses, which went from easy to complicated. Finally, I can say, “I did it!”

This vacation was more than just getting away from the work life and children but it was an opportunity to rebuild my marriage (coming in another blog). It was so necessary and I am very happy with the direction things are finally turning.

If you ever have the opportunity to go to Dominican Republic, make sure to explore and enjoy every moment. Life is too short to not travel and have fun!
