How often have you thought about changing your past or just telling your younger self what to expect in the future? We have often made some bad choices in relationships or just life in general that we would like to do differently. So, I decided to write a letter to my younger self about my past that lead to my future today.
Dear My 18-Year-Old Self,
There are many obstacles that you will go through that will cause you to become frustrated, lost, and confused. Although, these situations can be tough, don’t give up.
Don’t allow people to hinder you from following your dreams. People will enter your life that are not meant to be there. They are lessons that will teach you how to be strong, loving, forgiving, and understanding. No matter the situation, stay focused on the prize.
At 18-years-old, you will not have life figured out, so stop trying to rush the time. Trust the process and allow yourself to be young. Explore life! There is so much to see out there, so pack your bags and see what life has to offer.
Although you feel like you are an adult, you still have some growing up to do. The high school sweetheart that you thought was going to be forever is only for the time being. The two of you will grow apart and find out that there is still a possibility of finding true love. Not saying what you had was not love, but you are too young to try and force someone to be with you that does not want to be there. He has some maturing to do and so do you. The spitefulness that you thought would hurt, only hurt you in the process. You are not that person. Your true love is coming, so be patient!
Learn to forgive and not hold onto the past. The past will stop you from living your life to the fullest. Don’t beat yourself up about dropping out of college. The best is yet to come. You have a promising future, so keep going!
You will not have everything figured out but one thing is for sure, you will have an amazing support system that will guide you along the way and tell you the truth, even when you don’t want to here it.
Remember, you can do whatever you put your mind to and no one can stop the flow! So be the best version of you…Trust that there is only one you!
Love and Light,
